A wedding venue is usually one of the first things a couple wants to check off their list—and for good reason! Finding the perfect venue can really set the tone for your big day; it can influence factors from your theme and colour scheme to the dress you choose and the food you serve. Lucky for us, there are some pretty amazing wedding venues in Ottawa.
As you can imagine I’ve seen and photographed my fair share, from beautiful hotels to barns and even a tropical greenhouse. If I’m being honest, I love them all. Every venue is special because every couple is unique, and every experience is so meaningful to me. But in the spirit of sharing, here are some of my favourite wedding venues in Ottawa.
If you want to channel tropical vibes for your wedding but you’re not looking to travel, Aquatopia Water Garden Conservatory in Carp is a stunning and unique option. It’s a beautiful glass building that offers a ton of natural light, foliage and just the right amount of warmth all year round, making it a great option for winter weddings. The staff is always wonderful, the space is versatile, and the surroundings offer lots of options for family photos and photos of the newlyweds.
If you’re looking for a rustic wedding venue, I love the Herb Garden in Almonte. There are so many beautiful spaces on the property, from the barn to the gazebo and gardens as far as the eye can see! As a photographer who likes to have options, it’s a dream come true. The staff at The Herb Garden are wonderful, and I’ve always enjoyed my time there!
Just about 25 minutes from downtown Ottawa, Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm is another beautiful rustic wedding venue that I love. I’ve witnessed couples get married on the stone steps, surrounded by towering maple trees and it’s something that I’ll never forget! The best part? Stanley’s is a real operating farm, so there’s a chance your guests will get to mingle with some animals.
If the idea of getting married in a museum has never crossed your mind, take this as your sign to consider it! The Canadian Museum of Nature is one of the most unique wedding venues in Ottawa, and you can just feel the history as soon as you step into the building. Any wedding held here is bound to be magical, and the central location is a perk for guests (and photographers) too!
Who doesn’t want to get married in a castle? The Chateau Laurier is an Ottawa staple; it’s conveniently located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, and since it’s a hotel, your guests can stay on site. There are so many beautiful options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies, but there’s no wrong choice. A Chateau Laurier wedding is guaranteed to be luxurious and unforgettable.
There are so many amazing wedding venues in Ottawa, but there are none quite as special as your own backyard. Is a backyard wedding usually more work? Yes. Is it usually worth it? In my opinion, yes! There’s really no better way to make your wedding day unique to you!
